Two questions about the film, based on the trailer:
1) Do any witty, attractive, successful people of color inhabit this fantasy world? I mean, I live in Boulder, Colorado, and while watching the clip, I said to myself, “There are too many white people in this movie.” Actually, any time I see actors like John Krasinski or Kate Hudson or Alexandra Wentworth or Mary Kay Place, my internal racial alarm goes off. “Too white!”
2) Does Steve Martin cry too? Y’all got Alec Baldwin bawlin’? There’s pandering to the demographic, and then there’s insanity. The makers of this film cross a weird line when they show one of the smarmiest actors alive weeping.
I get your apprehension, but ‘Black Girl Pain’ got mainstreamed this season. I need some air. ♥
